I am completely obsessed with this baby montior. As someone who spends a lot of their time reviewing baby products, it takes a lot to really wow me on a product. Especially baby monitors!

The Nanit Pro is a small square baby monitor that connects to an app on your phone. There are several mount/stand options for the camera including a floor stand, a wall mount, and what we use which is the flex stand. Because we travel a good bit and sometimes we need to shift the camera based on who is napping when, we felt like the flex stand was the right move for our family. You can also select multiple options and swap the camera between them. For instance having the wall mount in your nursery and swapping to a flex stand for travel.

With the flex stand, it was easy to get a good angle on our crib to get alerts for our daughter. The Nanit app walks you through set up and installation and we had zero issues. The app also has milestones and can record a clip of time when it is alerted to sound or motion. I've had some precious moments captured by the monitor that I'm able to download and save.

The design is minimal, low-profile, which I like. My toddler has not noticed the monitor to unplug it or take it for an adventure (yet!)

IF you are looking for breathing motion detection, there are swaddle bands that you can wrap around a baby, or pjs, that allow the camera to pick up on the motion. NOTE: you have to be using the wall mount or floor stand to get breathing motion detection. Because my daughter was 18 months when we started using our Nanit, this was not a feature I tested.

Overall, if you want a minimal, easy to use, connects to an app baby monitor with some good features, the Nanit is a great option!

TL;DR

Pros:

  • connects to an app on your phone so there's no losing the monitor console

  • because of the app, you can be anywhere and view what's going on at home

  • alerts for motion and noise

  • background constant sound option

  • multiple mounting options

  • easy to set up and use

Cons:

  • if you have wifi issues, this will drive you nuts!

  • if your internet goes out, your monitor goes out

  • no way to "pause" alerts

  • if you don't close the app, it will drain your phone battery quick
